“There are many guests in the House of Hades and they are dying to meet you.”
It has been quite a while since the last update. Work has been progressing steadily since the play-test and the game continues to evolve in all ways, for the better.
The biggest update, which feels so minor to me (What’s in a name, anyway?) is the change of the title. “Enter the Survival Horror” is a well known line from the game Resident Evil which serves as a massive inspiration for this project. It’s so well known in fact that there are at least two other projects that use the line in their title. It’s an issue I’ve known about for a while but decided to let a better name come to me, rather than wrack my brain and force change. It paid off.
The new name reflects the themes of the game itself. There are a lot of references to Greek Mythology already present in the game and the underlying mystery of the scenario run deep, straight down to hell. Hades is the lord of the underworld, but not death itself. The guests of Hades are treated well and with respect, but never allowed to leave their place in hell. And so… the new title is House of Hades.
Aside from a fresh new title, much more has been changed. The mansion’s corridors have shifted and twisted in new directions. New allies and new horrors await the survivors. Puzzles lie in wait to unlock clues to an ever deepening mystery within the walls of the HOUSE OF HADES.
(Try saying it in your best movie trailer voice. It’s fun!)
That said, it has been a horrific year all around, and the last few months have been exceptionally busy and even more productive. Still, I had said the DEMO DISC would be released in by fall. That doesn’t seem to be a realistic goal, given how much I want to include in the demo. Instead of an infinitely moving deadline, let’s just say 2024 will be a new year for a fresh new hell.
